POSITION DESCRIPTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Commonfund seeks to hire an analyst to assume investment- and client-related requests from clients and senior members of the Strategic Solutions team. It is a highly visible position and critical to the success of the organization and its growth. The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with others in the sales and service, investment, and operations teams to provide high-quality, timely, and complete responses to our clients. This is a three year position within an investment management analyst program where the analyst will experience all aspects of the investment process including learning the different asset classes that Commonfund invests in. Analysts will be provided the appropriate training and mentoring needed for the role.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide strong quantitative and analytical skills to support the Strategic Solutions Group and the Outsourced Chief Investment Officers (OCIOs)
  • Undertake portfolio evaluation and analysis of client accounts
  • Assist with the quarterly reporting process, including performance calculation and written analysis
  • Assist with client interface – respond to inquiries and analytic requests from clients in a timely and accurate manner
  • Responsible for month-end portfolio review, rebalancing client portfolios, and cash flow analysis with senior account manager
  • Assist in generating asset allocation recommendations for current and prospective institutions by using portfolio modeling applications
  • Maintain and update presentation materials
  • Assist with ad-hoc project requests from clients and senior staff
  • Assist with development of charts, materials, and written communications in collaboration with our Marketing and Investment groups
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of Commonfund’s investment strategies and programs
Requirements

REQUIRED BACKGROUND:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, economics, or finance required
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills, including use of spreadsheet/database software for quantitative analysis
  • A strong proficiency with Microsoft Office programs including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to complete assignments independently and on a timely basis
  • Ability to work as part of a team to accomplish broader goals and objectives
  • Strong verbal, written communication, and presentation skills
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities
  • Willingness to work after hours, when necessary, to accomplish work assignments
  • Prior knowledge of capital markets and asset management landscape is preferred
  • NASD Series 7 and 63 licenses required within 12 months
