After graduating from Georgetown University in 1982, Seán McCarthy got his first finance job at E. F. Hutton in the public finance group. A few years later, he made the move to Paine Webber, where he rose to VP of the municipal securities group. In 1988, he joined FSA as the Head of Asia-Pacific Business. He was eventually promoted to President and COO of the company, and continued to serve as the COO and President when Assured Guaranty acquired the company in 2009. He went on to become the Principal at Hudson-Greenwich Partners in 2011 before co-founding Build America Mutual Insurance Company in 2012. He now serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the company.
