After graduating from Bowdoin College in 1980, Ben Carpenter began his finance career at Bankers Trust Company as a commercial lending officer and later as a dealer selling US Treasury bonds. He continued his work in Treasury bonds at Morgan Stanley before joining Greenwich Capital in 1987. Over the course of 22 years, Ben held a number of positions at the firm, including sales manager, trader and Co-COO before becoming Co-CEO in 2000. Today, he serves as the Vice Chairman of CRT Capital Group, a Connecticut-based institutional broker-dealer. Ben is also the author of The Bigs, a highly acclaimed book that offers career advice for young professionals based on his own experience.
