As part of the AFL Discipline, the Project & Capital Advisory team (‘PCA’) of Deutsche Bank focuses on financial advisory services as well as combined structuring/ arranging services (senior and junior funds) for cash flow based non-limited recourse transactions including public tender situations (i.e. P3 projects) and private-to-private transactions.
Provided with a global mandate (with offices in Frankfurt, London, Moscow, Dubai and New York), the PCA team has been involved in a large number of high profile financial sector industry award-winning transactions (deal of the year/ advisor of the year) across a variety of industry sectors including transportation infrastructure, social infrastructure, natural resources/ petrochemicals/ metals as well as energy/ gas/ renewable energy and defence. At present the PCA team consists of more than 25 professionals across the PCA offices.
As a result of the growth strategy of the business, PCA wants to attract an additional senior transactor who will be part of the New York team and add his know-how to the implementation and execution of advisory and arranging/structuring mandates in New York. The New York based team will be responsible for PCA North America (United States and Canada).
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of the Team in New York with further upward line to Head of Europe and North America. The successful candidate will be responsible for arranging, structuring and executing complex large-scale project finance mandates in the North American market. The successful principal will have principal responsibilities comprising the following:
- Actively contributing to the execution of project finance advisory & arranging mandates
- Taking on and handling projects autonomously and hereby concentrating on development of financial plan, development of competitive bid price, project due diligence, financial documentation and supervisory of/ leading modeling supervisory as well as client handling
- Coordination with external parties, e.g. auditors, legal and tax advisors
- Negotiation with tender authorities, international clients and financing institutions
- Strategic tender advice to the public and private sector; including optimization of “bankable” financing structures to boost shareholder returns and tender success rates
- Structuring advice for private-to-private transactions to optimise financing structures for clients while maintaining bankability and acceptable credit risk for the bank in case DB acts as Mandated Lead Arranger/ Underwriter
- Assisting clients in negotiations with potential debt and equity providers
Position Requirements
-At least five to seven years of relevant business experience in project finance or a comparable background in investment banking
-Outstanding and proven track record as project finance professional, preferably in infrastructure, energy and/or social infrastructure
-Ideally having been actively involved in winning and executing large scale advisory mandates and/or lead arranging and bookrunning positions
-Broad and sophisticated knowledge in financial modelling and project finance techniques reflecting a thorough understanding of different accounting standards like IAS and US GAAP
-Ability to translate ideas into financial models and financial statements and guide junior colleagues in this regard
-Preferable background from Structured Finance, Project Finance or Leveraged Finance either from advisory firm or bank
-Business School/University degree in economics or business administration or law, ideally combined with international working experience

Compensation:
The successful candidate will be paid an attractive base salary and will have the opportunity to earn substantial, performance-related bonuses.
