Frequently Asked Questions
Seats
-
What is a seat?
A "Seat" is a license to conduct searches on OneWire and access the OneWire database.
-
How many searches can I conduct with one Seat?
Each Seat allows you to conduct an unlimited number of searches.
-
Would an employer need to purchase more than one Seat?
Yes. While two or more hiring managers within the same company can share a Seat, they
cannot use the same Seat simultaneously. Because hiring managers can manage
the entire recruitment workflow on OneWire, uploading confidential search criteria,
salary information, and notes, it is unlikely he or she will want others to see
that information. OneWire is designed to improve the efficiency and effectiveness
of the entire recruiting process, and the best way to achieve this is to grant each hiring
manager his or her own Seat.
-
What is the contract length?
Contracts typically last for a period of one year.
-
How do I get started?
Register online and indicate how many seats you want. A OneWire representative will
contact you to activate your account.
Search
-
What is the difference between "Public" and "Private" searches?
When you conduct a Private search, candidates
will not know about your opening until you contact them with the details.
When you conduct a Public search, all candidates on your list of matches
will see your position automatically and can contact you directly.
-
Can I conduct an anonymous search?
Yes, employers can conduct Private searches. Only those candidates who you contact
will know about the opportunity, but you will no longer be anonymous once you
contact them.
Candidates
-
Can candidates proactively apply for jobs at my company?
Candidates cannot apply for positions on OneWire in the traditional sense. However,
candidates can express interest in the position, send a message to the Hiring Manager,
or reveal their profiles.
-
What is InBoarding?
OneWire offers an InBoarding feature that enables you to direct interested candidates
to OneWire, where they create profiles and are tagged as having expressed interest
in your company. This allows you to direct all candidates to one location to apply
for a job and provides your company with a constantly maintained database of interested
applicants.
-
How do I find candidates?
After creating a search, OneWire immediately presents you with a list of relevant
candidates that are rank-ordered based on how they match your search criteria.
-
Do I see candidates’ profiles?
If candidates have Public profiles, you can view their
profile details. If candidates have Private profiles, you can only view their
percentage match score to your search criteria. In this case,
you need to request to view their profile details.
-
How do I communicate with candidates on OneWire?
You can send candidates who have been matched to your opportunities
messages and administer all communications through the OneWire system.
-
Can candidates contact me directly?
Candidates can initiate communication only when they have been matched to
opportunities that you set as Public searches in the OneWire system.
-
How do I protect against phony profiles?
Candidates, both offline and online, can misrepresent their background and experience.
We suggest that you validate any candidates you find on OneWire, just as you now do offline. If you suspect
somebody is misrepresenting their background, please report them to us. Candidates
who submit fraudulent information will be banned from OneWire. Over time, this procedure
will serve as a strong deterrent to false representation.
-
Are the best candidates on OneWire?
The world’s top employers pay to use OneWire.
What’s more, if employers request that all of their applicants sign up on OneWire, our
system will self-populate with the best and brightest talent.
In addition, OneWire is aggressively marketing the site to potential candidates,
and we have partnered with many of the top colleges and universities, diversity
organizations, and other institutions to market to their students, alumni, and members.
-
Why should I direct applicants to OneWire?
Directing applicants to OneWire saves you time and money. If all the relevant candidates
for any position you seek to fill are on OneWire, you will be able to efficiently
identify, evaluate, communicate with, and process them through the entire
recruitment cycle.
Employees
-
Will my employees join OneWire, and is that a risk?
Over time, everyone who is serious about managing his or her career will be on OneWire.
Having your employees join OneWire will be highly beneficial for your firm. First,
you can conduct searches among your existing employees. Since their information
is up to date, you will receive a list of precisely matched internal candidates, allowing you
to more effectively redeploy people and avoid costly and unnecessary layoffs. Second,
and even more valuable, you have the ability to use the bounty feature to motivate specific
subsets of your employees to make relevant referrals for open positions.
-
Can I conduct a search without certain employees seeing it?
No. Conducting searches to replace existing employees without their knowledge cannot
be guaranteed and is not recommended.
-
Can other companies search specifically for my employees?
No. You can search by many factors, including education, experience, role, location
and type of firm, but not by name of firm.
Referrals
-
How does the "refer a friend" feature work?
Individuals who match your opportunities can refer up to
three professionals for an opportunity. The referred individuals will need to log on to
OneWire and, if they have not done so already, create a profile. They can then opt
to accept the referral. If they do so, they will appear on your list of
candidates, along with their percent match score for the opportunity and an indication that
another candidate referred them.
-
What is a referral reward?
Employers can post any referral reward they deem appropriate to incentivize referrals.
-
Who gets paid?
If a reward is posted and the employer hires a referred candidate, they
owe the rewward to the referrer. If a candidate is referred more than once, the
reward is owed only to the referrer to whom the individual responds.
-
How are rewards paid?
OneWire administers the entire process. The employer pays the reward to OneWire, and we
immediately remit the same dollar amount to the referrer. OneWire does
not take any portion of the reward.
-
Why do employers not pay the referrer directly?
Most employers do not want to pay non-employees directly and have requested that OneWire
establish itself as an intermediary.
-
What if I do not want my employees to accept rewards from competitors?
OneWire enables referrers to donate their rewards directly to a charity
of their choice, and you can make this your company's policy.
-
Why is the number of referrals limited to three?
We advocate quality over quantity, and want referrers to choose carefully whom they
refer so that you are not flooded with irrelevant referrals.
-
Is a reward required?
No, but it may improve your chances of finding the best candidate in the shortest
time.
Miscellaneous
-
What if we use a headhunter?
If you like using them, you may keep using them, but do them a favor and
direct them to OneWire. If your headhunter uses OneWire, it will ensure that
you are finding the most qualified candidates in the shortest time.
-
Why would a headhunter want to use OneWire?
Good headhunters already embrace and use the OneWire solution. It solves
their biggest challenge by providing them with a database of candidates, for any
position, that is current and up to date at all times. This allows them to serve
their customers more effectively.
-
Can I still use job boards and other means to search?
You can, but it will be redundant and counterproductive. Instead, make it known that
your firm sources its talent through OneWire so that you can more easily manage and
grow your candidate pool.
-
Can I still use our existing applicant tracking system (ATS)?
Yes, but OneWire has a full set of applicant tracking tools, that enable you to
seamlessly source and process candidates in one application.
-
How much time does OneWire save?
Using traditional methods, it can take weeks to identify relevant candidates and,
ultimately, many months to hire someone. With OneWire, you can enter precise search
criteria to find the type of candidate you seek and, in less than an hour, you will immediately
have a list of qualified candidates. You can move those candidates through the recruiting
process in a timely and efficient manner.
-
How much money does OneWire save?
Traditional search is not only expensive in direct cost (e.g., headhunters can charge
up to 1/3 of first year total compensation), but is also expensive in soft cost.
Soft costs include the time and allocation of employees who are needed
to vet and process candidates, many of whom are not a good match for your
position. OneWire dramatically reduces both costs by directly connecting you with
candidates who precisely match your search criteria.
-
What are the benefits of placing an InBoarding link on our web site?
By placing our InBoarding link on your site, you will be able to instantly track,
search for, and process any candidates interested in your company. Before searching the entire
OneWire database, you can first target those people who have expressed interest
in your company.
